Ferenc Piller: The Japan galleries

I've been doing photographay periodically since the mid 1990's in Japan. Some japanese friends of mine are joking me with things like I'm knowing most of Japan better than a Japanese born in Japan. I wish I would. It will probably take a lifetime to learn as much Kanji to name but one, to understand plenty of what Japan is about. If you have been around the country, closed in its own way, and met so much acceptance of complete strangers, even if this acceptance for a beginning is more of a politeness, you will find your heart grow roots very soon. If you try taking advantage of their kindness, they will grow a shell of behaviour around themselves, if you meet with just as much respect and tolerance, you will be surprised by a nation of profoundness.
